PURCHASE: I believe in being completely honest when selling a horse. Please feel free to
contact me with any questions you might have.
Billy is a 17.3 big boned Appendix
gelding. He is not registered but is freeze branded. Billy is approximately 19 years old, but still
firmly believes he is 10. Super EASY keeper, loads, clips, will tie all day. Cross ties, good for
farrier, worming, great for the vet. Trained English and ridden English, but would do fine Western
if you wanted to take him that route.
Billy has been a hunter/jumper his whole life but
should no longer be jumped. He does well in the arena, knows his leads, collects, W/T/C. Lunges well
off of voice command or body language. He tends to lean towards the lazy side and does need some
encouragement to get a good workout. Has been ridden on roads and on beginner trails and has done
fine. He does not enjoy riding through wooded areas like orchards. If used as a trail horse, he will
need some more wet blankets and a confident rider.
Billy is not a beginner horse due to
his size and big movement. Recommend an intermediate rider, or an advanced beginner involved in a
lesson program. He can be pushy on the ground, but if you assert yourself as the leader, he is quiet
and easy to work with. Billy has been shown extensively in the past, and would be a good mount for a
new shower in walk-trot and flat classes.
Billy has no bolt or rear in him but has
thrown a buck before. He will test you as a rider, but as long as you are confident and he knows you
will correct him, he will perform for you. Billy needs a wide tree saddle and goes in a simple
snaffle or a hackamore. His saddle can be included in his purchase.
Vet checks are
welcome at the expense of the potential buyer. Billy does take a joint supplement. From being jumped
his whole career, Billy does have stiff joints but moves freely with a short warmup. He is shod on
all 4 feet and goes about 8 weeks between shoeing. Vet, farrier, chiropractor, and worming are all
up to date.
FOR LEASE:
Billy is boarded at a quiet, private facility in
Bonsall, CA near the racetrack. There are trails off the property. The facility has a round pen,
large arena, washrack, locking tack rooms, and a certified trainer on site for lessons. Half lease
is $150/ month, full lease is $250/ month. Owner is responsible for regular vet care, shoes, feed,
and board. Leaser just comes out and rides. Billy has been used during lessons and does well.
Billy is suitable for a larger rider.
Shipping Notes:
Billy is almost draft
size and will require a large, warmblood size trailer. He will not load into a trailer too small for
him.
